This site is based on wordpress, one of the best CMS’s (content management system) on the market. If you want to look at other CMS’s that take care of things like RSS and do other cool things, (I won’t link out of respect for Marc) you should just search “open source cms” and you’ll find a website by that name that will give you demos of hundreds of CMS’s. CMS’s like wordpress are awesome because it’s free, open source and helps to combine the development efforts of thousands of people instead of having everyone work on their sites individually and be bogged down every time a new technology comes out.
The other advantage is that you can make it look and feel any way you want, for instance, Addison Kowalski did an awesome job with this theme and the site is very individual and unique while still being maintainable.
